CTF Gameplay
Take part in the unique Capture The Flag tournament at CyberTek Tech Festival 2025!
Whether you are a seasoned pro or just starting out in this field, this game is for you! No technical expertise is required to join the fun.
We invite 10 teams of two people to play. If you don’t have a buddy to pair with, sign up anyway and we’ll find you a teammate.
Please have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and accept a possible steep learning curve, depending on your current skill set.
Requirements
- Please bring a properly configured laptop with sufficient access rights to install the software (for example, I7, 32 GB of RAM and 100 GB of free hard drive space) without any sensitive/critical data and internet access.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of the industrial OT/ICS world.
- Participant must be able to operate software and hardware independently (NO – like zero – IT support will not be provided to participants by instructors).
- Prior experience in network assessment, IT/OT security assessment and software reversal knowledge will be highly beneficial and recommended to get the full value of this event.
- Remember – CTF is just a game – have fun, be fair and respect other teams!
When and where:



Rules:
The CTF event is open only to individuals on site. No exceptions.- Use of google, technical manuals, AI (chatgpt, etc.) and other available online resources is allowed.
- No trading/receiving/exchanging flags or giving any tips to other teams is allowed.
- You may only team up with a teammate in a CTF event – you may not “team up with other teams”.
- You may not seek the help of others (e.g., friends/co-workers) other than your teammate to solve challenges.
- Fair Play – no attacking the competition infrastructure, organizers or other teams.
- Respect the competition – it is not allowed to cheat, sabotage or interfere with other teams.
- Teams that do not follow the rules will be disqualified and forfeit all prizes.
- Instructors may – at their discretion – provide guidance to all participants.
- Instructors have the final and ultimate say (and verdict) in all matters related to the event.
Participation in the event implies acceptance of and compliance with the above rules.

- Jens Nielsen
is the chief senior security researcher at ICSRange. A nerd with heavy CTF experience has become an OT security researcher. On a daily basis, he develops ICSRange and searches for security vulnerabilities in industrial equipment. Jens’ selected public works on CVECVE-2022-2044
CVE-2022-2043, CVE-2022-3088.
- Piotr Urbańczyk
GRID, C)NFE, C)PTE, GIAC Advisory Board,Senior SCADA Security Architect at Tekniska.Security professional since 2006. Computer networks since 2001. Broke his parents’ first computer in 1992.Experienced in battle on the ground of multinational corporations as well as state-owned companies. Most of his professional experience was gained in power system environments. Currently at Tekniska, he is involved in control system safety architecture. He continues to break down computers, networks and systems on behalf of their owners, both as a hobby and professionally. He is a certified network engineer, computer forensic scientist and pentester. He has earned his GRID certification and GIAC membership.
